you basically chop so you can get new and unique sounds that you couldn't normally get from other kits or cd's you may buy. I've chopped up a sample from a song and you can't even tell it's from the song that I chopped it's so rearranged. There's still an art too it, even if it did come from somone elses song.

i'm not sure what you mean. the question that you are asking is very vague.

i pull breaks and sounds off of records and chop them up to my desire then replay them on the pads. i very rarely use a clean loop. that is too easy.

yea my question is kinda vague...

what i meant was what are other benefits of chopping besides the obvious, which is sampling someones own song...

but degillz kinda answered it "you basically chop so you can get new and unique sounds that you couldn't normally get from other kits or cd's you may buy. I've chopped up a sample from a song and you can't even tell it's from the song that I chopped it's so rearranged. to me it's 'not chopping' that is more of a ripoff, right

if you just sample a break and use it , ur copying...

once you chop you can rearrange the sounds and make whatever beat u want.
