i have a midi controller that is powered by usb...anyone know if i could plug it in the mpc1000 and get power...i only need power no data or anything. but it would be great if it did

interestingly, whether or not a usb device can be powered by the usb bus is nothing to do with whether or not it is a slave device. many slave devices can be powered by the usb bus. but you are right nicole, the MPC1000 cannot be powered by the bus, it requires too much current.

I don't think he meant the MPC being powered. I think he meant the midi keyboard to be powered by the MPC's usb connection.

yeah i mean use usb to power the keyboard...my understanding is that isn't a master/slave issue

no, it is. nicole was right. you can only get power from a host connector. the mpc has a slave connector, hence: it's not possible. sorry. :cry:
