Why so many storage devices?! My brain hurts!

OK - so I have an MPC2KXL and need to upgrade from floppy storage (why do they have such a crap storage device in the first place?!?)

Anyway, I've been browsing through these forums and I'm still none the wiser about what to go for. I'm short on cash (being a poor student!) but I don't want something that's gonna die on me either.

I thought about a Zip drive coz they're fairly cheap, but a number of posts have suggested they're not reliable. And anyway, how do I know which one to go for? I see some are USB powered and some are something else. What does it all mean?!?!?

All I want is something that works fairly well and doesn't cost the Earth. And before I hand over the dough to some fella on eBay, or whatever, I want to know I'm getting the right thing (including the right cables!)

Follow the advice in the USEFUL thread thingy and that should set you straight. I've done the EXACT same CF reader that pt3r suggested that I'm suggesting to you, it's perfect, someone else said before, it's the best thing they ever did for their 2kxl, I agree, me too.

Also in my useful links thread is a computer tech term dictionary, lol.

hehe, cheers. I saw you have a go at someone in another thread for being lazy and not looking in the manual, so I was a bit scared about posting on here. But you're not so bad!

Do you realise you've posted 9214 more times than me on these pages! That's quite a large amount!!

Anyway, thanks for the help. I've actually had my 2KXL for years and never got round to using it properly! Now I'm a (mature) student I've got a bit more time on my hands and thought I'd get into it. I'll probably be on here asking all sorts of daft questions in the coming weeks...
