note off?

sorry if this is a reallllly stupid question..

what exactly is note off? when im in a program and lookin at the play mode of a sample all i can select is note on, or one shot.. i understand what both those are .. but what do people mean when they say note off?

i hvae an mpc1k by the way..

Why do you ask at all if you know already then?

People obviously mean "Note Off" when they say "Note Off".

Oh, and no...there is no setting for that. Note On is when you hit the pad, Note Off is when you release it again. Simple as that
