you sure an mpc is right for house?

its definately a blank canvas but there are better ways surely

i heard and know of peoples who make house and as far as i know theyre rocking ableton 5

but whatever seems like youve made your decision

Hmm... now I'm not sure... What do people think, would it be overkill to have an MPC and run Ableton, or do the two synch nicely together?

I don't know....A lot of people (From what I have heard) that make house are software based....It seems to be a little easier for them that way I guess!!!!

Elliot, this comes down to whether you need sampling and pads to trigger the samples, or if you are happy working off s/are and an external controller.

There are many good drum machines for House and the MPCs are often used for this genre as they have some nice realtime tools that help a great deal in expressiveness.

If you need the sample based drum pad scenario then try getting Guru and linking up with that.

If pads are not important then you need to consider if you need sampling or a sample playback device.

Alternatively you could go the s/ware route and that will open up a ton of options and sound pallettes.

It all comes down to workflow and taste.
