Bad hiss/feedback from Turntable

I have my turntable hooked directly to the MPC. Could this be the resason the volume is so low and i get a terrible hiss when the turntable is on. I see on the back of the turntable there is also a spot for ground. Will grounding it help? Its pretty bad. I can hardly use the samples from it just becuase of the poor quality.

What can you suggest that I use in between the two, im talking affordable too becuase I just spent a bunch of cash on the MPC and a Triton board and this crap turntable.

i think you are definatly going to have to ground it. and as far as the low volume, you can pick up a cheap phono amp. i have a bbe that i got for 50 bucks at guitar center. works great.

Vinyl is recorded with phono, you need to convert it back using a mixer or reciever or amp of some kind. Check your local thrift/pawn shops for a stereo reciever with a phono input, also ground it.

the hiss will go away when the TT is grounded...

you can get a mega cheap 9v battery powered preamp at radioshack and can use yourself as a ground in the meantime, just grab the wire and itll remove a bit of the hiss.
