Yamaha NS-10M experts?

Im a total noob when it comes to these kind of monitors.

What cables do I need and do I need an amplifier?

I've got the mackie VLZ 1202 pro mixer if it helps.

Ive bought these classic monitors on ebay. Before I get em, I would like to know If I need anything else. Are these passive monitors? I know I shoulda done my homework

ns 10 are passive I dont know about this NS 10 M business...

bryston 3B, I've also heard good things about an alesis amp, not sure the model but i THINK its an RA1000.


NS10s sound better when they're driven hard, so be sure to overpower them a little on the amp rating.

as for cables, get your self some heavy duty 12 gauge speaker wire.

i was in your situation just a few months ago

i use a Adcom GFA-545 amp for my NS-10's. it works pretty good with it although it is a little lower than the recommended power level (150 watts per channel, mine is only 100w per channel).
