Alright, this is the last time.....

I'm still searching for that "perfect" interface. I have narrowed it down to 3.
1st is that M-Audio firewire 410. Gives me at least 4 ins which is ok but i could stand to have more. It's also the cheapest of the 3. Specs can be located here http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Firewire410d2/

2nd is the M-Audio firewire 1814. Which i don't know if this makes a whole lot of difference but it has 8 unbalanced ins and 4 bal/unbalanced outs. But it's an interface i can definatley expand with. Specs here http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Firewire1814/

Last but not least is one that i have never heard of but it seems that it's better than the first two that i listed. Edirol FA-101. I would definetly like to know more information about this one. An interface is my next purchase and it seems that i'm gonna need a pretty dope one with plenty of expansion room to suit the lab (under $500). If anyone knows anything about these once again please school me about em. Thanx in advance fam.

be aware fo the M-audio firewire 410. the 4 ins are not really 4 ins. in fact you have 2 mic or 2 lines. but not 4 ins at same time. i have it , and i was quite disapointed...i should read more carrefully the notice. but they present it as 4 ins which is almost true

stick to M-audio hardware if you plan to use pro-tools mpowered. if not you should consider better soundcard.

Yea acually i ran across this one too. Don't know why i didnt list it, looks good and it can be internetworked with 4 other units too which is doubly cool. I dont really need to use m-powered i have cubase sx right now so ill just use that if need be. Yea all in all i like it. Anything else about the others i listed?

What type of computer are you on. If you are on a PC I suggest a EMU 1818 it will give you 6 in's on its own plus turntable preamp. and if you decide to expand later on it has adat so you can get more channels on audio into it. Also it has better quality stuff that the M audio crap and its has its own DSP with pretty good plugs. THey also have the 1616 for the laptops which I use and I can do 8 channels of adat, 6 1/4 inputs into adobe audition with a 1gig processor with a 1.4ghz centrino processor.

I will be on my laptop. A Pentium 4 2.4 ghz processor w/1gb of ram.

Also, i was at GC today and tried out a bunch of monitors. Yea.....the hr824 don't have nothing on the Dynaudio bm5a's NOTHING.

No one has said anything about the Edirol. Whats good?

I have the Edirol FA 101 interface. Very good, great sound, great quality, very powerful, and has not failed me yet. I have my Korg Triton, MPC 2000, and Dell laptop all running independtly through the Edirol.....no problems, no hastles and the phantom power is great too!! good buy!!

Firebox only has 2 analog ins. But u know what i guess i dont need no more than 2 anyway since everything i have is plugged in thru my mixer.
