Our advice based on experience is that the MPC4000 is a complicated machine, the documentation is dry dull and in a complete mess due to all the OS updates not having been incorporated into the manual,
but the easiest bit to understand is the AkSys User Guide, which is really well written by a different guy,
and you said you'd read it and didn't understand what Ak.Sys was about,
so our advice is WOAH you is gonna DROWN on dar MPC4k already

dog i understand "what its about" but i was just looking for a brief summary of what it does vs. what the 2500 usb does if it is really too hard for yall to do then forget it.

you guys really need to eliminate that "RTFM" bullshit from your little arsonal.... its ridiculous, makes u look like a bunch of pompus ass*****

If everytime someone asked me for help/advice wit somethin i knew about and i said "read the **** manual".. i wouldent have a job - learn how to network and be professional and help people out, it really dont hurt.

^ thank you that was very helpful.. I had no idea.. that sounds pretty sick

You guys can stop referring me to the munual tho lol thanks

I have to jump in here:

In all honesty, the 2500 autochopping is nothing like ACIDized wav files, meaning, theres NO timestretch beein done, the 2500 simply just chops for you automatically. You dont have the same control over the wav file as you do with an ACID file... meaning sample a drumbreak from a record and use the autochop feature and as long as you speed up the beat your fine, but as soon as your slowing it down you're gonna hear some CHOPS if you know what I mean...

I still prefer using ReCycle with the 4000, its better than 2500s autochopping eitherway.

what about the "auto phrase loop" option does that not automatically time stretch your loop to the beat like it would in acid?

if you really wanna know what aksys does, just simply goto the AKAI website and read up on it.as far as peeps telling you to read the manuel, that's for your own benefit(not a dis).problem is alot of cat's(not saying you)buy machine's just for the soundz and are to lazy to do a little reading.you can aquire the same knowledge about the machine as other's have by doing what they did.we all are willing to help whomever but,we also can tell by the question, who did there homework and who did'nt.

Elite, we know you gotta be sharp...
Stop it with the stupid sh!t, for real...
...no one expects answers to an easy-@ss question...

That being said...

The 2500 patched phrase is a weak feature IMHO
No Acid timestretch steez. :|
Listen to Kalei post, he's 100% correct.
Chop shop is ok :|
My Version of chop shop kills it tho... 8)

Here goes a quick summary:

2500 = File transfer to PC editor/DAW + Folder management

4000 = All That^^^ plus program editing like the NN-XT you use in Reason, able to control filter, envelopes, pad assign/stack, keygroup assign/zone, part mixer, etc, etc, etc....
...all on your PC screen.

+4000 has a REAL sampler in it, 2500 doesn't, just phrase like 2KXL+ more RAM.

BTW, om some real sh!t, you had the dedication to re-do the whole sh!t for Jada...
...prolly made you alot more dollars what the sample would have.
...and I doubt you're as slow as you came off in these posts...
...don't listen to feline and buy the 2500...
...show 1/100th that dedication to learning the best MPC out.
...buy the 4000.
Learn that motherf#@ker by reading the manual.
Only come on here when you hit a dead end in the ref. manual
The AkSys manual don't have to many dead ends tho..... :?

Anyways, but the 4k, and rtfm...You got to, it's no 2KXL... :)
Trust.
Peace.

Thats just the piffed up name of the auto chopshop feature I think? Dont quote me on it as I dont own a mpc2500. But no, theres no such thing as auto-timestretching on any mpc.

I don`t know who you are and I think that replying to this is a waste of your time and with that time to move on to something else. It sounds like you won`t heed a great bit of advice and just blame others with that it is locked down.

Best of luck with whatever you purchase whoever you are. Remember it`s the man not the machine. And yes reading is your mandatory and until your next question I recommend to check the comparsion thread of 4k and 25K.
