Mute Track HELP

I just wanted to start by saying this site has been very helpful for a *****.... and as lampdog said i tried to help my self first b4 i just got on here asking ?'s but i have one very basic... im rockin the mpc 2000 classic one not the xl but, how do i mute a track so when i punch the pad its a single track.. not like multiple tracks ... basicly i wana stab one then soon as i stab another i dont wana hear the first one i stabed.. if that makes any sens ... its probly very simple but ive yet to find it ... basily muting a single track is what i herd it called ... Thanks n advance for the help

i read the manu twice... still dont really see wat im looking for ... i dont want the sounds overlaping just a single stapp help will be greatly pricated
