MPCs and Looping Inputs (with foot pedals)

I have a turntable + mixer setup and I want to loop my scratches. Is it possible to do this with an MPC 2500 (considering the input thru function) and foot pedals?

If so, what type of footpedals are recommended?

Funny, in the 2500 section someone just had that exact same question.

I think you cannot do it with the 2500 or any other MPC. The Direct Recording feature doesn't do either, cause it always stops the complete sequence as soon as you stop the recording.

And the only type of footpedals you can connect anyway (to the footswitch ins) are simple on/off type pedals.

Hardware that can do what you want is for example the Boss RC20XL or RC50 footpedals, or the Electro Harmonix 2880.

So there's no way to loop inputs in realtime on an MPC? What about using the overdub feature?

Might be something I'll have to recommend for JJ OS feature suggestions.

Overdub only refers to recording sequencer events, not audio.

I think Direct Recording has a large potential for this, but as usual Akai has slept on this again.
