I can't change the BPM in a sequence

When I press to record or play back on the mpc, the bpm number gets replaced by "(EXT)." I can't change the bpm or anything because when I do, it still clicks to the default 120 bpm. This just happened while I was working on something and I have no idea where it came from and its never happened before. Even when I reboot the mpc the EXT message is still there when I record/play. I know somebody probably knows what it is so can you please help me out. Thanks a lot.

Try disconnecting your EXTernal equipment from the MIDI Ins.
