pleease help me!!

i just got my mpc 500 and i want to use it soo bad! when the samples loaded up, my manual said i could play them. but when i go to the samples, i click 'play' and nothing happens...no sounds or anything. what am i doing wrong?

and i also need to know how to assign samples/beats to my 12 pads and how to play them. i haven't gotten any sounds from my mpc at all!

please help!!!

I know it sounds dumb...but have you connected any amp and speakers to your MPC?

naw not a dumb question. some people think the mpc has built in speakers....it dosnt, btw......

Sounds aren't loaded, you get no sound.

Nothing is sequenced, you get no play.



Manual isn't read, you are hurting.

i have no speakers or amps connected to my mpc. the manual says to connect headphones to the mpc, but they don't fit. i don't have to have headphones to hear sounds, do i ?

Lampdog, do i have to go to each individual sample and click load, or is there an easier way to do it. i have some that i loaded last night, but none produce a sound. what do i do when i get them loaded.

There is an Auto Load on the 500, It should still be turned on until you turn it off.
Read the Manual, Go get some headphones, connect em, them hit the pads.

you need something connected to hear from. why dont your headphones fit? maybe you need a 1/8 to 1/4" adapter?

well, when i tried to load the rest of the samples, "insufficient memory" keeps blinking! some said they were loading, then when it got about 8 loaded, it said "insufficient memory." how can they be insufficient memory when i just got it? the only things on there are the samples that came with it.

do i need to format the mpc500 first, then load them up. or will all of it be deleted if i format it?

what would be some *okay* speakers to use with it?

It comes with 16 Mb of memory, upgradable to 128Mb.
Do a search for MPC RAM, the 500,1000, and 2500 all use the same kind.

alright i'll look it up. but what type of speakers do i need? it says "Stereo Headphones" in the manual. could i get those at say Circuit City, Target, or Wal-Mart? how come cd player headphones will not fit?

Okay, this is what you need to do, go down to walmart/bestbuy or wherever your buy your music/electronics. pick up a set of headphones, but look at them first. Most are small like the ones you have but they come with a little adapter that will allow em to fit the mpc and most headphone jacks.(you might be able to find just the adapter to hook up the the headphones you already have)
for more sample time you need ram (akai EXM128). you can probably get yourself a couple of seconds if you turn off your autoload by REFERRING TO YOUR OWNERS MANUAL!!! then pressing [mode] [load] put the cursor in the top right field and roll the data wheel to the right until you get to autoload and turn it off.
MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! you should read the manual, then read this

or go buy a book on recording. if its not an advanced book it should give you an explanation for all of the connection you will ever need and then some.

another thing, i used to own a 1000 and now i have a 500 and a 2500 and i would suggest you upgrade to a 1000 or 2500 ASAP!!!
