Just bought an MPC 2000XL w/floppy drive. What is the best route I should go as for as saving my samples? Do I need a zip drive, or should I go with the external harddrive I use for my PC? Will I be able to hook the latter up to an SCSI cable (the harddrive has one of those square usb ports). Thanks for any help, I can't wait to start sampling.

^^^ co-sign. definitely much better off with the multicard reader.
it makes life much easier transfering samples back and forth with your computer.

You need an external SCSI hard drive if you want to go the hard drive route.

No.

Read the xl manual and it will TELL you what scsi hookups to get.

I looked in the manuel, and it tells me to refer to an Akai dealer, but I figured that you guys would know.

Again, I already have an external harddrive for my Laptop PC, although the port on it requires a square end USB as its connection . I have seen some SCSI adapters on ebay, but they have the flat end connection for USB. Does anyone know of a square-ended adapter? Does anyone use such a configuration? Thanks again.

Lampdog, why wouldn't this work?
