I have a small sampling prob...

I have been playing with the MPC 1000 for a week now. I have the BM on the MPC1K book from our site sponsor... But I took a few samples in today and I trimmed them and started using them in some basic percussion based beginner beats.....


So when I play the beat back it plays just as I created it to do, but when I press the stop button one of my raw (unchopped) samples plays out, the only prob is, I never put that in there, I never even loaded that sample in... Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I searched and am having no luck figuring this out... I followed the directions in the manual as well as the "Beatmaking on the MPC 1000" Ebook offered by the sister site..... I guess since there is no reply, noone knows the answer.. I guess I can just start from scratch and try again.

If you are doing everything correctly that sounds like it might be a bug, but I would check everything to make sure first.

Which version of the OS are you running?

The most current (2.11) from Akai.... I have been thinking of going with the JJ OS but I am not sure I need to.. I am new to this and still in the research mode as well. Thanx for the reply. As far as it being a bug, that is what I am starting to believe. I followed the instructions to a T and I doube checked everything....

Are you able to recreate this problem with any sample you chop?

As of right now, no, not yet. I plan on playing with it all day today, so hopefully I can figure it out and take care of it...

Perhaps you just "grazed the switch" (accidentally hit the pad for that sample without knowing you hit it. I often think in terms of movies.) ANYWAY, just use your [ERASE] button and go into OVERDUB or go into STEP edit and remove the sample. (This is A LOT easier to do if each of your musical elements is on a different track. A simple little thing I didn't do when I first started working with my 2K.)

Its also possible that triggering one of your other samples with the pads is causing your rogue sample to be triggered also, although it doesn't sound like that is the case based on where you said you are at in the learning process.

All of this is from the mind of a 2K user. I don't know if any of this would be different on the 1K. The sample getting triggered when you hit the STOP button sounds weird though.

Thanx for the input Mello..... The thing that confuses me the most is that the sample starts when I hit the stop button, it is not playing during playback.....
