Whats a better starter MPC?

The 2kxl or the 1k? Asking because they both go for about the same price used. I just want somethin easy enough to learn and to sample vinyl from..

ive been wondering the same thing also....im leaning towards the 1k just bc its newer.

if u have no understanding of basic music theory, and have never used any music programs b4, get fruity loops or reason and learn the basics and some termonology.

otherwise, if ur confident in ur abilities, and u understand time signatures, bars/measures, bpm, etc, than either mpc will due fine.

again, if u have a basic understanding of music theory, u should be able to decide for yourself which mpc will suit your needs best.

I had this problem recently and jsut received my 1k a week ago.. im telling you that i made the right choice... why?

-USB connectivity, for dropping samples.. perfect for my computer based approach.. this cuts out the need for expensive peripherals and I bought a 2 gig card for 40$ as opposed to dealing with a slow archaic SCSI Zip drive..

there are other benefits, but once again this was best for ME ..

your needs might differ, but going with newer technology is never a bad idea.. read up on the comparison forum, I read this board for weeks before i made a decision..

Dude, I'm not doubting you made the right choice for you, but I got a card reader in my mpc2000xl, as do many people...
