Hey guys, I have a couple pretty basic questions about audio interfaces for my MPC1000. I plan on doing everything on my MPC up until the point where I wanna actually make it into a song, and that's where I'm stuck.

1.) How do audio interfaces work? I mean, getting the tracks from my MP to my computer? I know Sonar, Ableton, Pro Tool, Audition, etc. all have the multitrack deal, but how do you get the tracks from your device to your computer? If there's a tutorial video or something that outlines that a little, hopefully someone could hook it up for me.

2.) I'm on a budget and trying to save a little for college, so I was looking for something a little cheaper. I know that M-Audio makes the little audiophile PCI soundcards, since my only input for now is the MPC would that work? I know I'm gonna have to purchase a fat piece of software with it, so that's cool, I just wanna know some good options for somebody who's just using an MPC and wants to load the tracks onto his computer and not break the bank.

So yeah, if anybody could help with any of those questions to the best of their knowledge that'd be cool. Positive or negative, any info in much appreciated. Thanks.

I've got a 500 and I don't have a audio interface, I simply resample the main output and download the wav file to my pc via usb. I then use reaper (a free multitracker) to finish my songs. This way, you don't have to spend a penny! 8)
