Is a mixer needed??

yo wutup.

im bout to get an MPC and other stuff soon and im hella new to this whole thing. anyway, im into sampling and whatnot.. and i was wondering, do i need a mixer to sample? im not really sure if i need one or not. i dont really scratch. so do i just need a turntable and whatever cables i need to plug in to the MPC??

basically.. that's my question. please help =)

you can pick up one of those Ion usb TT's from bestbuy for 100 then you dont need a mixer.


with regular tt you need some type of phantom power to strenghen signal coming out of the TT

numark pt01 or that vestax handytrax or whatever is called dont need mixers either. but they're belt driven tables and I guess people been having issues with belt driven TTs.

the only reason you need a mixer is becuase you need the preamp inside a mixer, but if you get a pt01 it comes built in, so you dont need a mixer.

if your not into scratching that would be perfect, and its battery powered so you can take it digging with you.

you could get yourselfs a small multitracker with some good memory, that takes care of mixing & you can help things by just recording tracks straight out the mpc to it. i have a fostex mr8 it is portable & has midi clock (out), which means when you hit record on it the mpc will play to it.

I have a Roland BR600 multitracker and its great but it doesn't have midi clock which was great before I got the mpc...
