loading sounds

hey everyone so i just got my mpc 1000 and i have no idea how to load the samples from the cf card to get going i got it from ebay so it doesnt have the manuel can someone help me get started?

Read this thing inside out. It's not the most wel written thing but everything you need to know is within....

You can save that manual to your cpu, and also print it.

In a nut shell

mode-->load(pad2)--> select the folder it is in by pressing the -> arrow key hilight it and select do it (f6 i think)..... That is a quik break down. But the manual will help you more..... Also while on the Akai site make certain you are running the correct Operating System (OS).... There are instructions on how to check the OS in the manual..... That is the most important step to take when you are using a new/used MPC.....

It will read the following. But to answer your question NO it can NOT read mp3 files BUT you can sample the mp3 file into the mpc or just convert it.

File Compatibility
MPC2000XL SEQ, ALL, PGM, WAV (When PGM file is loaded, only pad assign is loaded. Other edit parameters are ignored.)
MPC4000: SEQ, ALL, WAV (No compatibility of PGM)
MPC3000: No compatibility
Z4/8: WAV only
S1000/3000: No compatibility

another somewhat related question - what is the best way to save files to a CF Card? Can you put them in folders labeled "Kicks" and "snares" or do you just have to drag all the samples on there in one section? I put them in folders and its not acting right. I have an 8 gb card, so that many sounds just scattered is very inconveinent. thanks.
