hi .. this will probably be the stupidist post ever. i bought a mpc500 today. i connected it up & there were some noises in it. ive got loads of samples as all i want to do is use the machine as a outboard sampler to replace an old drum machine (trusty DR660) & pc sampler.
i sat here for 4hrs going back n forth over the crap manual. ive read yamaha/roland/korg & others. i know translations can be poor .. but this presumes u know how to work the thing! ... (im totally in the dark)
anyhow i checked the FREE samples using >winamp< ha .. & my multi card reader .. they were fine. so i just needed to know how to try them in the machine without over-writing the ones in the machine. well i gave up. so i tried to .. er ?? push a button .. or 2.
1. does the manual mean LOAD to the machine ?? or SAVE to the machine?? what way is the data flowing? (a chart would be helpfull)
2. crunch .. i tried something ?? but now theres nothing ?? silence.
3. so i did a reset .. & again .. and ZZzzz
well now ive a couple of sounds ... NO playable sequence .. some names that i recognise in the display dont ask where .. im lost.
.. the data still seems intact on the CF card .. so is the machine up the creek ?? or is it me.?
any one help .. before i throw it at a wall very hard.

ps. i also had my sequencer running ... & had a little loop set up on CH9 which i chose to use the akai. at 1st it sounded fine .. now its playing ga ga??
