Dont limit urself when it comes to capacity and sounds... each machine has its pros and its cons.. read about it and find beats that were made with both (i know some say u can achieve anything with anything... but its always a good start)

technically the mv is a far superior instrument, but the asr is a classic and it has its good qualities. If i could afford an mv id most definately go with that

Either/or... IMO... I'd go for the MV... no doubt. the ASR is a beast and freaking samples is mad easy and sounds great with the filters. The cons... finding one with a SCSI port and 16 Mb max memory, the floppy tends to fail and... dealing with 16 year old technology.
The MV is an all around production studio... has all the bells and whistles with a 120Gb hard drive, you can max the memory to 1Gb, use an external mouse/monitor and USB connectivity to a computer. The cons... IMO... the pads feel really stiff compared to my 2000XL... other than that.. nothing else.
And by the way...

<----- got both of 'em!
