MPC use live

Hey i'm looking for a alternative way to sample live. (no more macbookz and other computer stuf)

I thoughe an MPC would be the proper way to do so but..
I was wondering if you could sample audio for 4, 5 minutes and if its posible to send out a click sample towards in-ears without the crowd enjoying it..

yea u can do all that on 2500

The question is only: Why would you want to sample 5 minutes of audio?

there are a couple of songs that have strings/ electronic drums and reversed cymbals etc. and if a song is 5 minutes long i dont want to have to push a button while playing drums. only before the song starts.

But thanks fot the advise btw what about the MPC 500 or 1000? is it also possible with the 500/ 1000? and if so is the sound as good as the 2500?

I still dont understand it. It's not really the purpose of an MPC to play back a 5 minute long sampled song...

You should be able to sample as long as you have RAM memory available. This applies to all MPCs. How much RAM is possible can be found in the manuals. I have no idea however how stable the new MPCs are when they have to handle such big chunks of data...

For the click track you would have to send a sample to one of the individual outs that then goes to a separate mixer with a headphone out. So all MPCs that have individual outs can do that.

I don't think he's wanting to sample something that's five minutes long.


Just have a way to play the extra parts of his band's songs live? Like reverse crashes and strings.


I think you should be able to do something like that, but you'd have to make a sequence that's the length of your song and time it to come in right if you're wanting the sample to play in the middle of the song.


I just got my mpc a week ago and I'm still at the just playing around stage, but thought I'd clear up your question the way I'm interpreting it.
