How do you erase internal sounds?

ive had my mpc for around a few months and am loving it thus far, but cannot for the life of me work out how to rid myself of the preset sounds and programs on the internal memory (CDS, sunny_set etc). i am running the free jjos (3.08??).

i have tried...

going to load mode, going to format (f3) while the internal is the source, in the device field (where i assume it should say internal) it says X. the press"do it" and it tells me this will erase everything, then "do it" again, and i get a "system error" message.

i could really do with the extra space

hope my explanation makes sense, any help would be much appreciated!!

You don't need to erase it. In fact, you can't. Just turn off the "Autoload" feature somewhere in Load screen. Don't know where that is on the JJ OS...

i cant get rid of them?? surely not...

this is the same internal memory that the sounds i load from the memory card are stored on and played from right?

had already turned off the autoload. my guess would be there is some way of locking and unlocking the internal memory, but im certainly no expert. any one else know anything??

No, it isn't.

I don't know which MPC you have, but the 2500 and 1000 have an internal flash memory of about 5MB built in, which is referred to as "Internal". That's used to hold the factory demos, but could be overwritten with whatever you want to load instantly after power up. Like a small built-in flash card. Pretty useless to most as it's only a fraction of the RAM memory. RAM is what you need to hold all your samples and sequences. That's the thing you can upgrade to 128MB.

That's used to hold the factory demos, but could be overwritten with whatever you want to load instantly after power up.

can you tell me how to do this?

hells yeah i dont!! thanks for bringing this to my attention...

if anyone feels equally helpful id love to know how to replace these, rather than wade through the 130+ pages the search function recommends.

also is the exm128 hard to install? i have a basic but reasonable grasp of electronics and soldering etc. im sure this is covered extensively elsewhere but please humour me with a simple yes or no.

i tried this, but it says it is full, hence my efforts to delete the presets and the birth of this sorry state of a thread.

Then you maybe try to save too much to it. As I said, only around 5MB.

Get more ram its very easy to install and you will see under the mpc 1000 forum a topic just for help on RAM. Youtube has tons of vids on this as well.
