What's up everyone, another noob here and of course comes the questions. I'm about to get an mpc500 from a friend and wanted to know if I should just use that as a stand alone or also get a keyboard. I don't want to use software at all. Thanks for any help

There are so many posts like this! What you wanna do with it?? Do your research:

If you want to use at as a drum machine to accompany your busking, then use standalone!

If you want to create ambient, synth laden masterpieces, then of course you need a keyboard!

Wait till it comes and learn what it does. Create beats. Practice. Take your time building your gear collection up. You can do lots without a pc, and can create some pretty complex songs with an mpc alone, although you will need sounds.

PS Before you get your mpc you can get a head start and download and print the manual. The ebook from mpc-tutor is great too.
