For starting out which equipment should I buy first? an MPC or a Roland Fantom X6?

cuzin why dont u look on the official web sites of both machines and check out specs and read reviews and see which one can help you do wat u need to do the best. check out musiciansfriend.com as well u mite be able to find some stuff u wasnt even lookin into at first and all the specs for thier products are rite on the site.

When you say "starting out," what are you going to be doing? They are different piece of equipments, but they have similarities. If it was ME, although I wouldn't trade my 2kxl, I would get the Fantom because it has: a sequencer, a sampler, built-in sounds & effects, pads (they even light up), keys, etc.
with that said, get what will best serve you. Don't forget ease of use, in that department, nothing beats an MPC.

get the fantom because if you get an mpc dont forget the added cost of a turntable + mixer + records 
also I feel its much better if you actually learn how to play an instrument such as guitar or piano because it helps you learn music theory and how things go together. I learned drums and piano and now have a much better feel for everything. I can take my drumset and recreate the same break you can find on a record
