New to beatmakin

i'm 15, new to beatmakin, and i want to buy a mpc 1000, do any of ya have any advice or tips to figure this thing out and to eventually become good at makin beats? Also where can i get drum kits and other kits to put on the mpc, what is the jj os2, do you have to use a computer based beatmakin program with the mpc, and do you recommend gettin a hard drive for it?

You only need a computer with usb to get your samples into the MPC (apart from recording them, of course). You can do everything: cutting, chopping, normalising, looping and sequencing within your machine. But to be honest: I like to use Recycle for chopping and a free sample editor like Audicity for editting.

If you got a 1 or 2 Gb flash rom card you don't need a hard disk. I've got a big sample library on my pc and only load the samples on the flashcard that I really use in the songs. But even on your 2 Gb flashcard you can have a big sample library.
