Sampling

I dont have a mpc but im planning on buyin one in a couple of months, just gotta get sum money first...But im so excited about getting started so i just wanted to ask a few question which im curious about....Im wondering, how do u sample a track into ur mpc..do u have to use a lp player ? Or can u like put the track u are goin to sample on a memory stick and just take it from there? Or since the 2500 has a cd rom, can u just put in a cd and sample a track from there too?? :D :?

no, yes and yes.

you can also transfer any sample from the computer to either the cf-card or (if you have one) to the harddisk via usb.
or if you want to go crazy you can just plug in a microphone or an instrument direct to the mpc and record whatever sounds you like. easy lesson for beginners: sample a bunch of noises from your household and make a drumkit or a whole song of that sounds alone...

if you want to sample whole tracks then be sure to get the memory expansion, because otherwise you´ll probably run out of space quickly. it is always better just to sample the parts you need - that way you sort out the garbage before putting it into the machine.

You can download the manuals for free and look them over to to give you a clue about their functions to see what you'd want/need/enjoy having.

also, i was wondering where most producers get their samples from..? I know they take alot from old records, but like do famous producers order sample packages from common mpc-sites on the internet..??

Slightly off topic here, but are the mpc-samples you download from the internet compatible with other ' sound/audio devices 'as well? For instance can i download mpc sample-packages from the internet and use 'em as samples for Logic Express ( cus the samples already there suck )...

can get alot of drums breaks from here know get ur digital dig on....u can already have ur shyt before u even get ur mpc1k good luck to u....PEACE

For now i was thinking bout gettin a mpd controller to use with logic, reason etc. From what i have understood the MPDs are just midi devices with no samples already stored in em........But is it possible to use the mpc as a midi device only. Lets say i wanna play with logic a bit and not the sounds on the mpc. Can i sort of shut down the sounds on the mpc and only use the pads to play sounds comin from my computer and whatever program im usin?

Yes, mpc's are midi capable.

Knowing what TYPE of formats that each application and hardware use (compatible with) will be a TREMENDOUS step in figuring out what you can and can't do with your gear, TRUST THAT.

Ok cool...well i just got logic pro 8. And i need sum samples...i got a keyboard, ut i dont like the sounds, its a bit old. I really want to start building up a sample library so i dont have to worry about that. Ive checked around on the web for samples. All i see are loops. Download loops here and there. But i dont want no loops, i want to get samples. Does someone know a good site for samples, free or for a good price (preferably free of course )? I would really appreciate.
