free samples...

i was wondering whether all those free mpc samples on the net are safe. Has anyone here tested any? If so which ones?... I need me some basses and synths so i 'd like to get some free ones for start since the ones on www.mpcsounds.com for instance seem a lil expensive to me... i donnow...
Any suggestions?..

Just remember you get what you pay for. Not ALL of them are bad. But there are a few with corrupted files, viruses, poor audio quality (most of them).

so, from the ones u pay for, which site is the best? If u ever used any...
or should I try akai's hip hop collection (which for some reason seems "toy" to me...)

I personally have never bought sounds. But I have been digging for a long time so I got a collection. I would imagine the sounds for sale here are decent. Theres also a good amount of threads where people post up links to free sounds. Its a scavenger hunt ya dig! :mrgreen:

ive bought drums sounds before only to discover that I already had a lot of the sounds that I downloaded for free. I would buy instrument sounds and stuff depending on where its from, but I woudnt but any more drums. I dont trust it. Its the same recycled sounds. Maybe not everywhere but stuff like ebay and some offbrand website selling drum cd's. forget that.

but all the sounds i've downloaded have been "safe"

That's why some people have an active virus scanner when downloading.
