Is it worth it to buy the MPC 1000 brand new?

I've been wanting a mpc for a while and I've been reading these forums for months. I'm kinda nervous about buying a mpc 1000 due to the reported issues with the pads. If i do buy a mpc 1000 it will most likely be brand new because I would buy it from American Musical (monthly payment plan!)... I was wondering do you guys think it is worth to spend a full $1000 on the 1000 or go used and risk getting the bad pads?

get a used one, you'll save a bunch of money

yump....check ebay/craigslist and ur bound to find a good one...i got my blk 1k for 6 bills off ebay and the pads work the BOMB!!!!!

Yea man, i got my MPC 1000 off of craiglist for 450 and it still has a warranty to guitar center for 2 years.. And someone on craiglist is offering to sell me a 2000xl for 400.. so its out there if you look for it..

My first 1k I got off ebay and it was cool at first but after a while the pads started acting up and eventually the HD died. The problem with used is you dont know how much time is left before a failure. However the money you save as opposed to new is good enough reason in most cases.

My second 1k I bought brand new. I paid about $400 more than my last one BUT, my pads are new, my HD is new, and I have a 2 year warranty and honestly I am more comfortable with that.

I hear you man. I've been all over eBay and a local Guitar Center trying to decide what I want to do this weekend. I'm also picking up some Sony MDR-7506 headphones (from Guitar Center) and a Stanton table with Whitelabel cartridge (from DJ friend). I'd like to save money if possible... so I think I'm just gonna scope out eBay and Craigslist and try to cop a nicely upgraded (with new pads) used MPC for ~$700-800 if I can.

Just ask the seller what model is the 1000. Get the 1000BLK-N model because it comes with the new pads that work well.

Im also in the market for a 1000 but I might also go for a 2500.
But I wouldnt buy a used blue 1000.

Go for a used one, the majority of problems with the mpc are easily fixed.

Only if u really don't look around then your most likly get an mpc with shi**y pads.....

Just look locally (craigslist), or ebay....just ask and make sure and do ur own little research and handle your buisnes. Ur likely to get an blk1 1k with good pads for under 6 bills

its technically not support when you put out sh*t thats faulty to begin with and only after numerous upon numerous upon numerous complaints do you decide that you have to release new pads then charge an arm and a leg for them.

but in the end it doesnt matter because people will still pay for it and accept the fact that its ok companies release faulty software and hardware. "we can always update it later"

I think new is totally worth it..... You are guaranteed not to be buying someone elses problems.. And you have a chance at getting the new pads right out of the box. When you go to pick it up, just open the box b4 you buy and check out the pads... And verify that it is a BKxxxxxxN model...... There are steps to take to check the pads, that are described iin this forum (Just search "PADS") and you can be satisfied knowing you have a new MPC, New pads, and a warranty. The warranty is a very important thing thing for me on a piece of this cost.

If you are using a stores payment plan/ Credit always buy when the timing is right... sign up for their emails and wait until they are running an interest free program.... That way you can pay it off without having to pay interest on it.



But buy what is best for you.. You can def get great deals on maxed out used units, and some of the time the savings make it worth the gamble on its condition.

Look on amazon too. I got mine for 800 brand new, new pads and all! Warrenty and the whole 9. Make sure you look around first.
