Connecting Mic to Mixer for HD Record (MPC 5000)

Ok so I just ran buy my Guitar Center and picked up an AT 2035 Mic, and im tryin to connect it to my mixer and record in to my MPC5000 via the HD Record mode. Is there something else I need besides the mic and the mic cable to get some sund out of it? I go into HD Record mode and the threshold bars dont move. But when I connect my headphones I can hear myswlf if I talk into them... what am i doin wrong?

thats a condenser mic right? does the mp 5000 have phantom power? if so, turn it on. if not, run the mic to your audio interface/micpre and then route it out of the interface/micpre into mpc. thats assuming that you have an interface or a micpre.

yeah i talked to da guy at guitar center today and he said my mixer didnt support phantom power... so im about to check now and see if the mpc5k does. If not then yea im gonna have to get one of those phanto power boxes that he showed me or get a better mixer with it on there... which i will probably do!

Don't even waste your time slim, none of the mpc's have phantom power.

so i see... well i guess i better ask foor a better mixer for christmas
