Can't see samples

I am COMPLETELY new to music, but after playing around on my friend's MPC a few times i decided to purchase a 500. When connected to my computer, I can see the preset samples in the removable disk drive. I can't see how to get these samples up on my MPC as the sequences all say unused.

I am not very adept at computers either, but I thought that these preset samples would just come up. I just want the basics to have a play around with before I start some more in depth learning. Am I just overlooking something really obvious here?

you need to load a sample and then assign it to a pad.

Thanku, ive figured it out now, was just frustrated that it wasn't as straightforward as it was made out to be in the quickstart manual.
