I want to hook my turntable (numark pt-01) into my laptop so I can chop samples on recycle. right now i just have the sp 303. will get a 2000xl next week. I was searching and was wondering, do i just need to get something like the PreSonus FireBox to be the middle man for the pt-01 and laptop? and then export the chops to the 303?

I think you are making this too hard in these ways...

You could buy a Firebox and a turntable DI Box, or a DJ Mixer to boost the signal of the turntable...
And then you could record it into your computer....

But honestly, I would get a DJ Mixer or Turntable DI Box to boost the signal and go direct in to your MPC and chop your samples in the MPC....

If you plan on bouncing your stuff down and actually mixing it on your comp you are going to need a Firebox or audio interface anyways....

It really depends on what you are going to do. If you have any more info on your process and expectations of your projects that would help too.

Good luck
