mpc Setup help needed

Hey,

I JUST picked up a used mpc 1000 and I need some help.

The equipment i'm using is:

Rane TTM54 mixer + Technics 1200 + 2 KRK Studio Monitors + mpc 1000.

Cable set up is:

1 1/4 inch cable into each KRK from mpc stereo out = normal volume from the mpc metronome when I test it.

Rane mixer master outs left and right (phono plugs) to record in left and right on MPC.

with that being all setup, here's my problem. Only when I crank the volumes up on my mixer (master, channels etc) and on the mpc ALL THE WAY do I get very little faint volume from my speakers. The sound from the mpc to speakers is fine because it's direct, but I can't get normal volume from my turntables/mixer at the same time. What do I do? Am I missing a step/ piece of equipment?

What is preventing my turntables/mixer from having normal volume when the master from the mixer is plugged directly into record in on the mpc?

My guess would be...you not reading the manual...

I never had the 1000 but with my other samplers, I need to hit the record screen to get sound coming throught the outputs. Just a wild guess here...

Not sure about the 1000 as I have a 4000, but on the 4000 you can only 'monitor' the record inputs when you are in RECORD mode.

On use this when you are actually sampling into the MPC.

Try connecting both your TT and your MPC to inputs on your mixer.

Then connect your mixer to your monitors (via an amplifier if needed)

Take a spare 'Bus' or output pair from your mixer and connect to the 'record in' on your MPC for sampling.

BTW Im not familiar with your mixer, but the advice given is generic.

you can monitor without being in record mode if you have input thru enabled

as for weak signal from the TT's seems you dont got the TT hooked up to phantom input

make sure you got the turntables connected to phono in not line

Thanks for your help, it seems as though I've figured "something" out, but I feel as though i'm doing too much just to get this machine to do what it's supposed to do. Anyway, as per advice, I have:

Phono Master out from mixer to Record in on MPC.

1/4 inch master out directly to active KRK monitors.

Stereo out from MPC to Line in 1 and Line in 2 on Mixer.

Therefore, when i'm in phono mode on my tables I hear the record, but when I switch to Line mode I hear the sampler, but ONLY
on one speaker. I did check the manual, and the diagram mentions have a multi channel mixer going directly into stereo out and the dj mixer going directly into Record in. So maybe the problem is that I don't have a multi channel mixer? However, per diagrams online, the "basic" setups do not require a multi channel mixer. Just, dj mixer + Turntable + mpc + monitors = all gravy.

konc3pt, by phantom input do you mean extra multi track mixer/audio interface/ sound card?
