Mpc Advice please ASAP!!

Mpc Advice please ASAP!!

yo man i was wonderin if u could give me sum advice?
ok well i bought an mpc 500, and well i coudlnt use it at all, it was so fiddly and hard to assign samples,Small and tacky Screen n very Dull, i even looked online for tutorials and no luck, so i sent it back!
but i still wanna make paul wall styles beats u know,.. like this:

with snare rolls and stuff, The Dirty South Way :)
i jus wanna be able to sort my drums the way i wanna...
so would you say the Roland MV-8800 is any better than the mpc 500? or is the mpc 500 Fiddly than the rest of the mpc versions?
am maybe thinkin mpc 4000,
is the mpc 4000 better than the mcp 500?
please get back to me man! my music career depends on it! ...

This website has an in depth MPC500 tutorial - just look to your right.

I looked at both and settled with the MPC1000 + JJOS and purchased the manuel from this website...would highly recommend.

You GOT to realize how ridiculous your question is though.

Any drum machine can make beats.

Your music career is doomed if you don't do/don't care to do the research
on the features of whatever gear you are interested in.

Right off the bat you failed with "paul wall styles beats".
Make it YOUR way and what YOU want imo.

We'd love to help you, just come with something more real and concrete.
Something like you really give a damn about what your doing.

And yes, we clown alot here.

its good natured laughter - trust me - you'll know when it gets ugly in here :wink:

bottom line - its pretty much the least powerful mpc - 500, compared against what's generally still seen as the best one - 4000.

500 has portability, runs on batteries and is cheaper, but the 4000 is an absolute powerhouse. I'd take one over a 5000 (the 'top' model supposedly) and Im pretty sure a lot of others would do the same.

If you have the opportunity - get a 4000. Take the time to learn how to use it and Im sure you'll find it worth it.

p.s. the 4000 is not cheap - if your budget doesn't stretch that far there are mid-range options worth pursuing. At the moment you really are talking about trading in a push-bike for a Ferrari...

I'd say the 2500 w/ jj from what I've read everywhere seems to be the mid-range best bet.

hey, I been making lots of music.
been working with a few musicians.


i multitrack them in my studio, then o back and cut out samples. it is a lot of fun for me.



phase two, just keep trying, you will get where you want to be.


paul wall get beats from many sources
so saying paul wall style beats, means nothing.



probably you would like an mpc1000 or 25000 better than your 500.


or just get an apple imac, and logic studio 9 and you're done.

ok well when i said "paul wall styled beats" i ment Dirty South Sound... Get me? like 808's, fat snares, pitched snare rolls etc,
Mr Lee who works with paul wall,scarface etc doesnt use an mpc aparently? ...
:? , but Drumma Boy Does and Them 2 Are Tearin it up! ,
ive seen how easy it is to make a drum beat on an mpc... much easier than sorting quantize issues out which destroy me!,
ive now got the money to get a 5000, i thought a 4000 would do but Discontinued doesnt help... so its either i get an mpc 5000 with my miko, so jus buy an apple mac with logic pro 9, ...
But off the Record?

if its gonna take like 4 hours to assign samples to pads then F*** that cos i had that problem with the (lame) 500,
