COMPUTER VS LAPTOP

COMPUTER VS LAPTOP

Well first i have a mpc and a mixer and a turntable for sampling. I really want to know if i need a whole computer pc or would a laptop (most likely a mac) be able to hold everything i want to do. I also want to master my beats and record my songs will a laptop be able to holld all of this or do i need a pc. Thank you

I'm a noob myself, but its really all personal preferance. I have a very nice computer, and plan to use it with Fruity Loops 9. Its all about how you want your setup to look.

Desktops have advantages like being able to install PCI soundcards and more RAM. laptops can only have a max of 4gb ram i believe.
Laptops are sweet for portabilty.
ive got my laptop set up with an external 22" hd monitor and wireless keyboard so with the laptop itself out of site it has the feel of a desktop.

havent been following pc laptop computers, but unibody macbook pro can take up to 8GB of RAM

doesnt the envy(dr dre laptop) have some ridiculous max ram.. like 16gb or 20gb max or something?
i got a mbp15 and no complaints, except wish i got the 13 with dual graphics..

depends on your budget and how portable you want things.

one option is to buy on older desktop (for very little) and use it only to run your DAW.

Hi
I preferred laptop, I can bring it anywhere I want even in abroad. The only downfall of laptops is that it is more costly than desktop.

keep im mind that most DAWs only use up to 4 gigs.

I'd probably never buy another Desktop computer again since getting my Mac Book Pro. I have an old desktop that I built myself but mainly use it for Windows programs I can't live without since there are no Mac versions (SoundForge, MPCEditor, Helium music manager and my programs for work). I also still use it for the SCSI PCI Card to transfer the samples to and from my SCSI HD and then to my MPC2000XL.

I think that it depends on your environment, ie. operating system, applications you are running, how many and how well they are optimized to utilize systems resources.
