Not sure if the keyboard functions are the same on m-powered as LE (I assume they are) but once you create an audio track, you arm the track by clicking the "R" button on the track, then hit F12. Once it begins recording, press play on your MPC and bladdow. Muzak.

It was a joke...sure, it can track into PT. :D

How are you currently running the mpc into your interface?

Dude you gotta use your brains and not the vids you see. Those vids leave more questions than they answer.

mpc audio into your audio interface into tracks in protools.

midi is not audio. You can track audio without using midi at all, ur choice.

alrite its like this

theres more then one way to record into ptools
the way i know how to is pretty easy and universal to all recording programs

use an aux cord (the cord with 2 headphone jacks on each end) and
plug one jack into the headphone jack on ur machine and plug the other into ur labtops microphone port

have your program record the audio input from the micraphones port
if u dont know how to do this then
look on protools for audio input settings and change it to microphone

hope this helps man
good luck

are you multi tracking or 2 tracking?

Either way is pretty much the same.

1/4" to 1/4" from MPC outs to interface ins.

Set the MPC to send out of the line outs, or just leave it as is and record the main outs.

In Pro Tools, create auxiliary tracks for each input on your interface. I think the MobilePre has 2 outs, so two mono aux tracks, or a stereo track.

Then create the audio tracks you are going to record to and match to the aux tracks (stereo to stereo or mono to mono).

Set the inputs of the aux and audio tracks to the correct input of the sound card.

Arm the track(s) hit the record button in the transport section and hit play or spacebar to start recording.

If you aren't midi'd up, press play on the MPC and you should be recording. I think that's everything. It's late and I may have forgotten something, but I don't think I did...

hardware that i have is:

mpc 1000
mobile pre m audio hardware interface
axiom 25 (if neccessary)

On the MPC1000:
Go to the MIDI/Sync Menu:
Press Mode + PAD 9.
Sync [F2].
Sync In: 1 or 2 (whichever MIDI input you plugged your MIDI cable into).
Sync Out: Off.
In Pro Tools:
Set your tempo in Pro Tools. Refer to your Pro Tools User Manual for more on this.
Go to the Setup menu and choose "MIDI Beat Clock." Check the boxes for "Enable MIDI Beat Clock" and the corresponding MIDI output port.
Press play. The MPC should now be playing in-sync with Pro Tools.

if you don't know how to use Pro Tools... then why are you insisting on using it?

Wow, I am new to this board and I am sure this thread is very old. I mean no offense, but I hope responses like yours are not commonplace on this board. The OP is asking a question in a "getting started" section and you blast him for not having knowledge of certain tools of the trade? May I remind you, hence the section "getting started"?

No offense, but can we show at least some semblance of understanding? The guy is asking a question in a "getting started" room and he is being grilled because he is asking a question that a newbie SHOULD know already. Please don't take this personally.
