hello everybody. i was wondering how can i record my beat, all i have is a vestax turntable connected straight up to the MPC 2000 XL, and some speakers going out. My MPC has a CF card reader and thats how i store my beats, is there any way? some of my freinds say convert it, but i dont know all of that. Any thing helps, thanks

record the mpc outputs into the computer? you probably dont have an audio interface... but that would be the best option... or else you could get a cable to send the outs to the headphone type jack input on the computer.

no no, you can get one of those 1/4" to 1/8" stereo adapter cables

you plug the pair on one end into the mpc as you know.. then you run the headphone jack looking end into the line in (I think it's usually the red input on your pc sound card) ..

but, also... go to google, and do a search for "audacity". it is a free program that records audio.. it works very well and is simple to use.. you push record, then push stop.. and you export as WAV and you got your song on the desk top.. you can also cut up and trim your song in there too.

simplest and cheapest method^^^^ but if i remeber correctly can cause alot of groundloop issues and also sometimes computers cant properly process the analog sound to digital....i could be wrong its been along time sice i did that.

do not convert your cf card files!!! your just going to **** them up...leave them as is and focus on recording the sound coming out of the mpc.

^ ground loops shouldn't happen at all if the computer abnd mpc are plugged into power outlets with grounds..

grab audacity online for free... and record the beat that way.. it works.

Simplest and cheapest would be to use your smart phone, far enough from the speakers to record the sound. However, not so much recommended, but you can get semi-decent sounds. I have recorded some freestyle sessions, with my iphone and italk, and it aint too bad for off the cuff/not having your equipment with you...

True...

I bought a Tasca, DR50 or something like that... I went to my friend's domicile, and we hooked up the mpc to his speakers and freestyled whilst listening. Used the recorder with built in speakers (it has a headphone/line out and a line in (haven't used it yet), the voices sound amazingly clear for being 4-8 feet away, and using audio from large bookshelf speakers, and then into a little recorder with dual microphones....
