Hello, for an mpc 2000xl to function properly what is required? Because i found one ebay for a cheap price that comes with a a power cord and a usb cable. Is anything needed to run it? I'm very new to the mpc world so if somebody can fill me in i would be very grateful.

pre-amped monitors and a pair of jack cables/an amplifier and speakers and jack cables/headphones, either one of those would work. The usb cable is worthless though as the 2kxl doesn't have usb input, no idea why it would come with a usb cable.

Wait, does it have a floppy drive or CF card-reader installed on the front?

Minimum you will need to make some beats are floppy discs or CF card with some samples on, and a pair of headphones. Once you intend to actually sample your own sounds you'll also want a sampling source (turntable and DJ mixer, CD player or home stereo) and the right cables to hook things up.

Best not to go out on a limb and buy a full blown home studio right away; let it grow as you gain experience/ skill with the MPC. You'll know if/ when you need to get the extra stuff (mixing desk, monitors, DAW, extra outputs for the MPC, FX for the MPC etc) as your options will be limited.

I already have a turntable and mixer so i think i don't need anymore equipment at the moment, just the right cables to hook everything up. Thanks.

That's a zip installed in it bro. Definitely look into a CF reader. Best thing I ever did for my XL. Makes life so much easier to use an older machine.

Looks a little rough, no 8 output option, I wouldn't pay much more than the current bid price for it.

whats the 8 output option?

whats the 8 output option?

I'm not in the market, so would wait for one that is cleaner, without the wear as tapedeck says, and with some of the add-in option boards, such as the 8-output expansion board, which gives you 8 additional analogue outputs, plus stereo digital I/O, and/or the EB16 effects option board.

You could possibly DIY a CF reader for around $50-100, or buy a kit for approx $150-200, maybe?
