Get MPC of choice. Take box home, open box, take MPCout and manual, power up MPCand open manual start reading the manual while pushing buttons on your MPC.

if you don't have a pc get the 2000xl rather than the 1000. the 2000xl has zoning which is really nice for chopping up your samples, i can't imagine not having it..i have a pc and i still choose to do it on my 2kxl...

oh but REALLY

you gotta make a sequence

each sequence contains tracks

on each track you record an instrument

track 1 - drums
track2 - hihat
track 3 - misc sample etc..

all the tracks play at once - unless you mute them ofcourse

you will need samples (sounds) - just look on the internet\

and past learning that - you can look online for pretty much anything you will ever need that gets more technical - but this will get you started

if you have a pc - make sure you use it for what its worth

it makes things alot easier

theres alot more to it than what I said ofcourse

just make sure you read the manual - it sucks but do it anyways - we all did
and make sure you use every rescource you have available to learn ontop of what you already know

oh also - you need to update yer bios - from the akai website
prolly need to upgrade ram or atleast buy a 128 CF card or anything bigger to get started
