Hi. Am new to the forum. Recently purchased a used MPC Live. After reading all the horror stories re. latest 3.4.3 update, am wondering if I should update my machine. I am using it Stand Alone only and never intend to hook up to Computer. So maybe some of the issues will not affect me as has happened to other users. So my question is..... Will I benefit from updating to 3.4.3 Or should I leave it as is.??? Some of the screen shots look better in the update, But will it cause more trouble than it's worth.??? Current op system is 2.5. Thank you all... Ronnie. :?

You are not locked to v3. You freely downgrade and upgrade 2.15 to 3.x and 3.x to 2.15. Try both.

FIRST make separate folders on your media for each firmware versions. Why, cause there are some issues between versions.

Thank you. Can I down load to computer, then copy to a SD card then load the upgrade from the card? Or does the live need to be connected to the computer. Reason I ask is because we have very poor internet here and worried it may fail while downloading direct into the MPC.

Computer to usb stick, usb stick to Live.
Upgrade or downgrade anytime you want.

Remember to back-up your projects. Use working copies of your projects.
Things aren’t always smooth and flawless, NOT AT ALL.

Thanks for that. One last question. looking thru available updates spotted version 1.10 comes with mellotron samples which I would really like. So... Do I have to download ver1.10 or will the samples still install in the latest update? And if 1.10 is needed will I lose the mellotron samples by installing ver. 3.4.3??

Just install the latest version and you can download every free synth from 'preferences > Activations' including the Mellotron, no need to install each and every version in between, updates are cumulative.

Sorry guys. One more thing. About to upgrade to 3.4.3. Should I disconnect internal SSD drive before update.? Just read someone lost recognition of the drive after update.

I didn’t disconnect my sata hdd from X or Key61. I just went ahead and updated. I had no problem seeing my drives afterward. It doesn’t hurt, you can disconnect if you want. Go ahead.

Hi. Having a drama already. Downloaded ver3.4.3 from Akai. Copied it to USB stick. Computer said only copying 1 item in the file which I assume is correct. Put USB stick in live. Pressed shift to bring up update logo. Then screen showed ..."you must download a firmware update from the Akai pro. Website before you can update this unit." So too scared to press the update button. The update does show up in the stick. There is other stuff on it. Should I use a fresh stick?

USB stick needs to contain ONLY the update file.
Nothing else should be on the USB stick. Nothing.
Ensure you downloaded the USB version of the update.

Thanks lapdog. Will get a dedicated stick. It was the USB one I downloaded. But I don't get a popup screen allowing me to choose USB on the live as I have seen in how to vids.
