I think getting started cause he's also asking "where" to hook up in the back of the mpc. I think he's getting started.

@ Sherwood, download the manual and read up on the connections on the back of the mpc. No hand holding here big man. There are pictures of the back so you can SEE what looks like what.

If you do this then you are good to go with the mpc line ins.

thanks mnh2410 that really helped alot. After reading all that Im wondering if im looking at the right mixer. I thinking about buying the Yamaha MG10 mixer and a turntable. I dont know if that mixer has a pre-amp though. I want to get the Numark TT1600 or the Numark PT01 turntable. But after reading those article ima go with the PT01 because it has a pre-amp built in. What do you think?

Buying the PT-01 will allow u sampling right out of the box. You want have to worry about buying this or that. so u will be able to sample straight to the MPC with it. But you may still want to consider a small mixer for your other hardware gear.

Im buying the PT01 and the Yamaha MG10 mixer today so if I get the mixer should I run the TT through the mixer to the mpc or just hook the turntable directly to the mpc?

either one will work if im not mistaken but connecting it to the mixer will prolly give u a higer gain sound wise. Im no expert but i think im correct b/c the PT has a preamp so it doesnt require any boostifications but connecing it to a mixer should amp it even more. Correct me if im wrong.

Yes you should be able to connect it directly because it has an built in preamp which most TT dont have so thats why most have a mixer for there TT. But the PT-01 should connect with no problems.

Just bought the PT01 and already a problem. I hooked it up to my mpc1k and turned it on but there was no audio coming from my speakers. Could my connections be wrong?
