Almost anybody will tell you to go with a 1k w/ jj o.s.

This unit seems to be the prefered tool to do your damage or whatever.

But the mpc 1000 is so small when you hit.the pads it move from his place

is a mpc2000 good for a beginner?

Bloody hell mate... I am noob here and I don't even have my MPC yet, but I've read 10.000 times already that comparing the 1000 to the 2000, people should stick with the 1000 with JJOS, and spend that extra cash on effects and shit.

but for real, you should consider a 2500 if you can't find the 1000 with the new pads.... so i've heard.

Go with the 2500, get the jjos (operating system) since the size of the 1000 is an issue with you. When you get it, read the manual and learn it well. Find out what you're missing after you've done all u can with the 2500 then deal with it from there.

Example: when I got my 1k. I said to myself " I gotta get sounds into this machine being that its a sampler/sequencer" so I went out, got me a turntable with no pre amp built inside so I couldn't connect the TURNTABLE straight cause of the fact that it had no pre amp so what I did was I bought a MIXER which comes with a phono pre amp and ran the TURNTABLE to the MIXER then from the MXER I went to the MPC and boom, now I could sample sh!t and having that MIXER helps cause I can eq the samples before they go in the MPC...

This is just an example. Hope this helps peace

Oh and you're gonna need speakers/monitors or headphones if you wanna hear anything coming out of the mpc

just to let you in a little secret, just because you buy an mpc doesn't mean your going to "automatically" get talent.

it will take time...

it took me almost a year to get it right.

and that kind of stuff you just cant rush.

MY MPC does not budge... But that is because I put a little time in researching, and even less thought in what I would need to keep it in place.... And if you are hitting the pads that hard, then buy a drumset homie.... There is no need to bang the pads really, unless they are the old/bad pads. I have a pad that is made of the same meterial on the bottom of most mouse pads and I use that under my MPC... And because it is made of fom, I can roll it up and take it with me when I am in Mobile mode. I also have the foam pads for studio monitors (Name escapes me) so that they angle the MPC enough to read the display while it is on the desk; No lap use for me.




Now for sampling..... This is what I currently have and use for this..... Primary means is the freeware AUDACITY.... This program is perfect for it..... The visual you get is outstanding, and you can convert any MP3 into Wav right in that program... Check out Youtube and search "Chopping with Audacity" there are quite a few vids on the subject....


I also have a Technics 1200 hooked up to a Gemini 3 Channel DJ Mixer (PMX-60) that I paid $12 (total) for on Ebay.... I may have gotten lucky on that price, but you get the idea.


And finally I have the MPC 1K that I can use to sample live from my PC or my TT.

What I have been doing as of late to save memory space is to chop sections I want in AUdacity, convert to wave, then drop into MPC and chop somemore if I did not do a detailed chop in Audacity.

If he hasnt made a beat before i think he will have a hard time making beats on the mpc...
i suggest he starts making beats and use samples on fruity loops(like i did)

I made my first beat on a mp cuz I couldn't work with FL and Reason. So it really depends I guess.
If u have a strong feeling that u really need to make beats on a mpc, then u probably should.

before buying the mpc. i highly highly suggest you try out some software first.
just to get the feel of making a beat.

there are almost demo version of every single software production out there
Fruity Loops, Acid, Reason, Live.

whatever.

im just saying it cus i dont want you to waste your money if you end up not being good at it, and that being said, by getting an mpc does not mean your going to sound like Kanye, Jay Dee overnight.

i **** a round with fruity loops but fruity loops is gay cuz i dont have a keyboard and shit i cant make good mellodies and good drums .so i want a mpc to sample and shit i found a lot of lp,s in my house with movie soundtracks and shit crazy **** mother **** shit on it .when i have a mpc i beat the shit out of it all you ****** are going to cry how good my beats are lol
