I started learning music by reading manuals for hardware my friend has. I read the manuals for the emu 4xt ultra, access virus c, yamaha 01v mixer, motu digital performer and motu 896 hd .

You should definitely use a computer in your setup it is a mistake not too in my opinion.

I would start learning piano get a used cheap 88 key midi controler. get cubase sx and reason u should be set. After you understand rythm, timbre, pitch and know ure way around the keyboard you should be able to write little melodies or hooks. Then look into getting an mpc used for making drums.

Crushed ya dreams? How? Duke on a serious note, how serious are you with wanting to get into production? How knowledge is your skills of hip hop? The culture? The sound? The essence? I mean all of that comes into the pic when going out to take on the task as a producer.

A lot of these dudes on here have been producing for a while that give good decent advice. Some might be more blunt then others. Just be humble and move on son.

Get up and get a job money, especially if you live at homes with ya moms and pops. Hell that's the best time to stack cream and madd equipment! I wish I was at home still, I'm married and got bills plus trying to do music part time. But I still find ways to get what I gotta get it's hustlaing man. Get on your grind and learn from the older gods.
