Seriously, keep the MPC the centerpiece and the master. You might wanna have the MPC as the slave for tracking purposes, but generally, I'd keep it the master.

Thanks for the advice will keep MPC as master, not quite sure what you mean by tracking purposes ?

When you're done with the beat, if you wanna record the beat into the computer in multitracks (kick on 1 track, snare on another, etc.). **** that, get an analog mixer an mix the beats with that.

How do i do that or were can i found out how to do it using a pc.
I am runnig cubase and raeson, I have just about manage to work how to use reason as a sound module not quite there yet also the same with cubase. For some reason in cubase if i use more than one instrument the MPC plays all of them together even though I have them on seperate midi channels cant wotk it out.

MAXIM

thanks for the info i wish i would have seen this last night...hahhaha...

i wasnt getting much help any where so i said screw it i have had about 3 hours of sleep in the last 2 and 1/2 days...determination or ignorance? you choose lol..

any how my main problem was the terminology...the manual loved to talk about seq's and programs and all this yet...i was still trying to figure what they all were..any way from no sleep and a few pointers from friends...i finally made my first beat and it actually game out good...i was shocked i went from saying ahhhh man screw this im selling the mpc...toooo now wanting to tell my girl she has to get off the bed my mpc doesnt have enough breathing room haha...

well just when i thought things were going good....BAAAM i go to save the program after i spent hours of finally getting it actually sounding nice...and the **** freezes on me during saving......just my **** luck.....

so i dont know what to do....prior to all this i installed the newest OS 1.21 and now i have been advised maybe i should to an older OS...go figure....

so now im about to wipe the sweat off my forehead and the tears from losing my first beat haha....and get back to work....

im going to install an older OS and see what happens....if it does it again...thats it, she will be sleeping on the porch tonight if she trys that freezing shit on me again....

but yea man i am only today for my first time getting sounds out of this thing...so we should most def stay connected and as we pick up tips and so forth...we can pass them along....

man am i glad to see a couple guys out there like me because i am just about as new as they come. i just picked up a new 2500 a couple weeks ago while i was home on leave from workin over here in the desert. i was overwhelmed at first but slowly started to get the hang of it, but bear in mind my knowledge is very minimal. i only got to mess with it for a couple weeks before having to return, i wanted to bring it with but didnt wanna risk gettin it all full of dirt and dust so i reluctanly left it behind (tear) but anyway i was hopin you guys could keep me in the loop as well, i religously read these forums on my lunch break tryna soak up as much knowledge as i can and i print out as much as i can to take it back home with me when so i do finally go back i can get right back into it. i dont post much cause if you search enough you can usually find what your looking for because newb questions are pretty common ive come to notice but anyways im just glad to know im not the only one out there.
i didnt do any upgrades or anything because i figured with the time i had with it i just wanted to familiarize myself with the thing to get a basic feel and beleive me, even with the first os installed in it it was plenty to keep me busy, but the c-sucker did freeze up on me once too, well anyways this is gettin long but i just wanted to put myself out there to hopefully catch a few tips also cause the time i did have with the thing was probly the funnest thing i did on leave. thanks

Hustle man, glad to see ya making progress I feel allot better knowing im not the only one burning the candle at both ends.

feel for ya brov with the saving issue, I have got into the habit of saving every thing as I don’t fully understand all the saving options as yet.

I checked the 1000 forum for memory recommendations and hard drives I got some 256mb of memory from PC world for about 40 squids ($80) fitted a treat, upgraded to OS 1.21 works fine no problems as yet (fingers crossed)

spent the day sorting out midi keyboard with MPC and reason as a sound module got it working, just need to understand the concept of recording the sounds from reason into the MPC. I am also trying to accomplish the same thing in cubase so I can use my VST’s. I have manage to sync up cubase and MPC but for the life of me can not work out how to play more than one VST instrument although they are assigned to different midi channels , my project for today

Big Ted wasssss up nice to hear from a fellow newbie, hope ya keeping safe out there in the desert keep ya head down homie.
No problems in keeping you in the loop us newbie’s need to stick together it can be over whelming all that information out there, 3 heads are better than one.

Like your self I have familiarized my self with the 2500 and mainly concentrating at the moment integrating it to my current PC based setup getting all my controllers working properly. Man ! that leaves no time to make beats at the mo, but once sorted il be bashing those pads like a baby boy with his first rattle.

Peace

hey maxim good lookin out. i do gotta add to my last post, it was the funnest thing i did on leave BESIDES MY GIRLFRIEND. if for some strange reason she were to read that post id probly get shot in the face with my own ruger p89. but anyways, it sounds like youre way more advanced with this than i am, with the hookin up to the computer and all the midi stuff. my buddy does have a casio keyboard with midi outs but i wasnt even gonna try and touch that yet. i basically just sat down with the pre-loaded sounds and the manual and went at it to see if i couldnt make some sense of it all. i made it about 3/4 thru the manual before i had to go but i did manage to make a little song and my buddy wrote a few lyrics to sing along with. it sucked but i had fun. i started a second one and used a sample that i recorded off wax and chopped up myself and let me tell ya i was damn proud but by then it was time to go. only four more months till im home again though and its back to bangin pads. alright yall thanks for listening to my ramble. and to maxim and mr. hustle, good luck and keep it up, ill be readin up so hopefully ill be able to catch up once i get back at it.

maxim glad to see your progressing so quickly, im with ted on this one i havent got into running my x-board yet...i figured 1 step at a time and i was in zoom mode for a minute thing had me addicted then the save problem just shook me lol...i have been scared of her now...cause she always crash's on me...i can bang on it for hours no freezing then as soon as i try and save boom snowballs **** froze...

any way im 15 minutes from jumping back on the horse and i have a back up plan now...will be much harder but sometimes we gotta do what it iz you kno....

if i end up getting a beat that sounds worthy of saving im going to try and hook up the mpc to my comp and just record out single takes in software...then ill just edit and so forth there....

ahhhh man what fun, f'in akai get your shit togetha for ya boy will ya....lol...
