Actually, I got into the MPC around 2004. I was deployed to the middle east (just retired from th the military about a year ago). Getting back to point. One of my buddies (a DJ) bought a 2000. It was beat up, but sounded like magic. After playing with it for a couple of weeks, I order the 2000xl right away and have been hooked ever since.

We share a common ground as I too grew up on the 90s hip hop. Although, I must confess, I don't sample much. I use the Mpc as a sequencer mostly. I sample maybe about 30 percent of the time.

I attended Berklee College of Music (specializing in Pro Tools). I use to live right down the street from Digidesign in Daly City when I was stationed in San Francisco. I became friends with one of their engineers (never could get a discount though). Lol

I met Quincy Jones ( during Berklee time) and I will NEVER be the same. The man is AMAZING! As a result, I love arrangements, especially orchestral. I really dig vocal chants and cellos. If you ever hear any of my music, that would be very apparent from the first note. Lol

What's up? First of all, thanks for the welcome. I wish I would have joined sooner. I look forward to learning and sharing with everyone in this forum. Thanks for the words. I just accumulated this stuff over the years, man. How do you like Battery 3? My friend has it also and he absolutely loves it. I also plan to download Logic, now that it's available through the App Store.

By the way, I am currently overseas (Philippines), so if I am delayed getting back to anyone, it's because they are 12 hours ahead of the States (eastern time).

battery 3 is dope, whenever i use logic, i use battery 3 for my drums, its really easy to use and has alot of great options for sculpting your sound. the sample library is pretty good too, there is alot of stuff i dont use, but the samples that i do use work great. there is also alot of quirky off the wall type stuff that is pretty cool too.

they also added some sp1200 and mpc 60 modes, havent used them too much, but i hear that they are pretty dope.

if your using logic i would consider battery and instant buy, you can get it for pretty cheap now too.

the only gripe i have about battery 3 is that the panic button isnt cc assignable, that gets kinda old if you have a long sample looping over and over, although you can go click it and it works fine. if your just using it for drums this isnt much of a hassle either cause they cut off so quickly anyway.

here is 8 short tutorials that come with battery 3 to get you off your feet, watch them.

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL ... ature=plcp

where are you at in the phils? alot of my friends have family there, always wanted to go.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I've been doing some research on Bat 3. I am impressed. I will watch the videos.

I am in Cebu City (Talisay City). I love the weather here, although day-to-day living can be a little frustrating at times if one is use to the States. Overall, not too bad.

I was asked to judge a hip hop competition two days ago and I must say, some of these kids are very talented. Hip hop and R&B are not as big over here as in some of the other countries I have been to. But it's beginning to catch on. I'm trying to do my little part. :D

thats cool, there is alot of good pinoy rap coming out of the states, havent listened to much from the philipines though.

in those tutorials, there is a little musical intro to each one, and they all use a different kit that battery 3 comes with.

the one other gripe i have is that you cant make it go fullscreen, but thats fine i guess.

there is also a really handy place you can add solo sounds to cells,

so if you right click on one then you can scroll thorugh all the snares, kicks, open hats, closed hats, sfx, ect.

then if you choose the top one you can just hold down ctrl or alt, (if your on pc or mac) to go to the next snare sound for instance.

all the sounds are divided into acoustic, digital and analog also, so you have 3 sets of snares, 3 kick, ect. ect.

Sounds great! Seriously looking into getting this beast. The only thing will be paying for shipment here and paying for customs duties and taxes. Too large of a file for them to offer download. I have a friend coming over next month. I think I'll have him bring it with him.
