ok, read the specs for the drumkat. you could assign 8 notes per pad on the drumkat. you can layer them, alternate them, depending on how hard you hit the pad only a certain number of notes will be triggered. read the specs about drumkat. it is a very nice piece of equiment. again, v-drums are nice for layering down drums but the drumkat can do that plus tons more.

plus, your v-drums are at the bottom of the line/cheapest for v-drums.

about piano sounds, there are no hardware pieces that sound as good/real as a top of the line piano vsti, period.

Well, consider me guilty of violating this code of conduct. I've been a long trustworthy advisor to this method until I upgraded my DAW the last time (a little over a year ago).

I actually thought with the addition of anti virus that things would get worst. But I've been proven wrong since there's plenty of additional resources packed in these newer computer products.

Plus there's a program or two that I'm using that won't open unless there's an internet connection present. All in all, things change rapidly in this game now-a-days. What use to be the defacto at one point has now changed within just a few years.

i am not talking about a resource issue but what happens it you have to wipe your harddrive clean because of a virus.

on my external harddrive have:

battery 13 gb, acountik piano 12 gb, colossus 32 gb, electric piano 2 gb, garritan big band 4 gb, gpo 4 gb, kontakt 34 gb, ik multimedia suite 27 gb, trilogy 5 gb, atmoshpere 5 gb, stylus rmx 5 gb.

if i got a virus (which is very possible and likely) and had to reinstall windows i would have to reinstall all my sound libraries too. plus, have to authorize them too. that is very time consuming. in the long run, to get rid of that worry "i" purchased a $499 acer laptop to do my internet surfing. "all" of my associates have two machine and would never connect thier music production machine to the internet just for that reason alone (reinstall).

i just cant imagine someone risking the downtime just to have internet access on thier music production machine. the power of the machine is not an issue because there are AIX servers with 8 to nodes (8 machine connected together) with tons of memory and power that get viruses. the reasoning behind having two machine is to protect one from the worst case senerio, which is a complete reinstall.

p.s. i had to restall windows on my acer/internet lappy because of a virus, i cant imagine that happening to my music production machine. or the time needed to correct the problem.

I totally agree with you on this. And I've had my share of reformats, reinstalls and the whole nine yards through my trials & tribulations. So because of this, I feel I've learned how to handle & deal with this type of problem.

But this is mostly for those that aren't quite up to part on computers/electronics & software though.

The bottom line to this is...if one doesn't feel thorough enough to make sure they're protected with anti-virus stuff, then by all means don't jeapordize all of your hard work by making a stupid mistake (which I like to term as "going out there butt naked").

Most ISP services bundle some sort of security program within their services when you sign up anyway (unless otherwise).

Now I will still build machines with the intent of never connecting to the internet, but now I know a little more of what I can do if need be.
