I figure since this is about me getting started on my studio, I should post it here rather than the Studio or MPC 1000 section. Anyway:
I am very happy right now. Since this is my first post, I will just give everybody some background on myself. I am a senior in high school and I have been making beats since sometime in middle school. It is just now that I am getting serious and starting to purchase equipment that I have wanted for a long time now.
I just bought an MPC1000 on ebay, it came with a 256mb CF card and a mount/bracket (not sure what to call it) for the hard drive. I also purchased some RAM ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820172003 ) and a Hard Drive ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822152105 ) as well. I decided the price was right and I would go for it (only after extensive forum research to make sure they were both compatible
). Now I'm just waiting to get it...
My other gear I own right now includes: A computer, FL Studio, a few of my favorite VSTs, Korg K49 Midi Controller, Technics 1200 MK5, American Audio QD5 MKII mixer, and cheap headphones. I eventually want to be as free from having to use a computer as possible. What should I be buying next? I was thinking of buying a pair of Alesis M1 MKIIs ( http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/M1ActiveMkII ) because I have heard good things about them and they aren't very expensive. Do you all think it would be a good idea for me to invest in monitors next? What do you think is necessary equipment after that?
