SONG SAVING TROUBLES ON MPC2000 (DETAILED QUESTIONS)

I've Just Recieved MY Mpc 2000 On The 3rd. Ive Learned Pieces Of The Machine But have a confusing problem. I create a Song Through 2 Sequences And Map them Out In Song Mode. SHIFT + SONG. Well When I Have Saved The Song ( 8 Bars For Now) On to a floppy disk I Go To Play it On My Pc For Reference, And Each Drum Piece Comes Out As Pianos.

My Method: I hit SHIFT + DISK Go To Save I Tried All SEQ And ALL SONGs. Came out as a .ALL File and wouldnt Play. Then I Did SHIFT + DISK And Tried Saving it As SEQ. It Then Saves It Into a MIDI File.

There Isnt Any Info On How To Save Songs In my Manual. Could Be different Then The Original because I Downloaded It From AKAI PRO.com.


How Do I Fix This Problem??? The Manual I have Only gives pieces Of Info About Being in song mode. Its not very detailed.


Im using OS 1.70.

Of course you can export midi files like you did, and then open them in Ableton Live for example and load samples into Ableton to the same tracks you used in the mpc, but what's the point of having an mpc in the first place if you are about to transport everything to the pc later? : ) Record outputs, that's how we all do it here...I think.


Im Going To Have Pro Tools Soon So I Wanna Make Sure What Im Doing Is Right. So Info That Comes In ill Take As Knowledge.

Just Had a Thought....If i Have An External Hard Drive Mapped Into The Mp Saved Each Song As a Whole, then Hooked Up The Hard Drive To My Pc. Is This another Solution To My Problem??

sounds like your trying to save your songs to be played on a computer right? Just a little confused by your post. First you have to understand that the sequences you play on the mp are different file format than the computer. Secondly exporting a midi file, which when saving a sequence it automatically converts to, played by your media player is not going to play the same sounds you have in your mp.

Honestly it sounds like you got a lot of studying to do and i'd start by heading over to tweakheadz.com and reading The Guide.

congrats on the new mp but id seriously consider what route that it is that you'll be using it for. Sounds to me you'd be better off with software considering you mentioned the keys unless your reeeeaaally into sampling and chopping old school.

oh and to answer your question you'll have to track out your drums, to a daw or any recording program for that matter to reference your sequences. when you toss that floppy in your comp it reads it as a general midi file and thats why your getting all those pianos.

Thanks For The Help. Ive Tried Software And Didn't Like The Complexity Of Them. Chopping The Samples Isn't The Problem. But Like You said I Had Gathered The Thought That i Could Play The Song Through Media Player. As Of Right Now, Im into Learning The Mp. Saving The Songs Was The Only Trouble I Really Have At the Moment Because I Dont have Any Source Of Melody.

But I Am gonna Go To Tweakheadz.com I Study Up. Its Gonna Be a Slow Process But Worth The Wait. Ive Found That Theres a Few Hidden Features Like Track Mute And Ways To Cut The Samples.
