Purchasing MPC1000

Hello, I am completely new to MPC.

I was wondering what is the minimum need along with the MPC to have a legit home producing studio.
I am looking for answers such as software and hardware and their names.

Just think of it this way, I have NOTHING in my house except speakers and computers. What do I need other than MPC to start producing?
I also wanted to know if sampling can be made from computer to the MPC. I see alot of guys with turn tables and sampling it straight from the record. Can I just sample from an MP3 file?
Please recommend some user-friendly must-haves with MPC (as cheap as possible, but still want quality).

upgrade to jj os, get a 2 gig flash card and upgrade the ram.

an mpc, speakers and something to sample is all you need.
mp3s are poor quality and wont give you good samples. instead, try sampling from cds - try the bargain bins and flea markets.
also, you can d.load plenty of samples and drum kits.

The CHEAP/QUALITY thresh-hold is hard to come by these days. And yes, you can sample from mp3's.

hey thx for the reply, but is jj os 3.08 good enuff? there is 4.9x for 50 dollars is it worth it?

jjos 3.08 is a good starting point.... You can upgrade to it and still use the Akai manual to get thorugh the learning curve.


For starters sake, all you NEED is the MPC and some headphones.....


But a decent turntable, multi channel mixer, some decent Monitors(speakers), and eventually a DAW will be the bare minimum to create and mix your stuff.


But take baby steps, get the MPC and learn how to use it b4 you get in the habit of buying alot of hardware and being able to use it.
