Which one should I choose?

Hey, I am having a hard time deciding between:

1) Buying a lap-top (about 500) and an MPD24

OR

2) Buying an MPC 2000XL and Zip Drives (about 600-800)

Help me out if you've had expreiences between those 2 setups. (This might be a little bias, since this IS an MPC FORUM)

I wouldn't consider that to be biased at all. You can expand with the MPD as opposed to going with the MPC. But then again, you don't have to be limited to using zip disks on a 2kxl, you can swap that out for a multicard reader.

But there's something about working with s/w, that you really don't get the same feel like you get with working on a mpc. Not saying it's a bad thing, 'cause I'm intrigued with coupling s/w and a mpc together (esp with the 4k).

well what computer are you using to post this thread?

do you already have one? because it isn't only laptops that can be used for music production. In fact desktops are 20-30% more powerful then their laptop equivilants.

it depends if you prefer software or hardware really
